Tan Yang Hong Chas (black teas) are from Tanyang Village of FuAn, Fujian, a very famous, renowned tea growing region. A unique cultivar was developed by a local farmer during the Ming Dynasty, originally for the production of green teas. 

When “Hong Cha” (known in China as “Red Tea” and in the west as Black Tea) was first developed in Tongmuguang Wuyishan Fujian during the late 17th century, it was soon discovered that the Tan Yang cultivar developed in Tanyang village had unique properties that contributed beautifully to the production of outstanding black teas.

Three famous teas resulted from different production techniques utilizing this cultivar: Bai Lin Gong Fu, Zheng He Gong Fu, and Tan Yang Gong Fu.
