From a modern research perspective, it contains bioactive components such as ferulic acid, Angelica polysaccharides, and volatile oils (ligustilide), with higher contents of blood-nourishing components than other parts of Angelica, exerting stronger blood-nourishing, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory effects, helping to improve hematopoietic function and enhance the body’s resistance.

【Medicinal Components & Effects】
Angelica Sinensis Head is rich in active components, with higher contents of
Angelica polysaccharides and
ferulic acid than Angelica body or tail.
Angelica polysaccharides are the core, exerting strong blood-nourishing and immunomodulatory effects by promoting hematopoietic stem cell proliferation and enhancing immune cell activity.
Ferulic acid plays a role in improving blood circulation and antioxidant by dilating blood vessels and scavenging free radicals.
Volatile oils (main component: ligustilide) have analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, relieving menstrual and abdominal pain. These components work together to focus on nourishing blood, assisting in promoting circulation, and maintaining the body’s hematopoietic and digestive health.
【Storage Methods】
- Store in a
cool, dry, and well-ventilated place (temperature 10–15℃, humidity below 60%), away from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent mold, insect infestation, and loss of volatile oils. Angelica Head has a compact texture but still needs moisture protection to avoid efficacy loss. - Use airtight containers like glass jars or vacuum-sealed bags. After opening, seal promptly to avoid moisture absorption and oxidation of active components. Add 1–2 packs of desiccants for long-term storage to enhance moisture resistance.
- Avoid storing with odorous substances to prevent flavor tainting. Regularly check for mold spots, softening, or unusual odors—discard immediately if any spoilage is found.
