A chasen is a matcha whisk specially designed to properly prepare matcha, or ground tea. The bamboo arms of the matcha whisk are able to blend the tea perfectly, breaking up small clumps of tea to create a smooth cup of matcha.
A matcha whisk like this chasen is necessary to get the desired result out of matcha. It is a traditional tool used to prepare matcha in Japanese tea ceremonies.
