Description

Composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon with touches of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cab Franc, the grapes are aged in 100% new French oak from their own on-site cooperages imparting oak spice, while polishing those potent tannins Lafite is hailed for. With age, this wine shows a wonderfully layered and complex nose with aromas of graphite, cigar box (cedar and tobacco leaf), dried black currants intertwined with a fresh currant leaf that adds a spark of life and elegance. Perhaps most impressive of this wines is its ability to transport you with its cool silken minerally finish, that speaks to its deep gravelly terroir. in its youth, best to be enjoyed with a fatty cut of meat, ribeye steak, leg of lamb, or braised pork shoulder is entirely to your taste. Once matured, this wine must be the focal point of dinner, still to be enjoyed alongside food, but a lighter simpler meal so to best enjoy the mineral and tannic structure that centuries of history and savoir-faire have produced.
