Description
【Benefits】
In traditional Chinese medicine, Polygonatum sibiricum (Huang Jing) is valued for its effects of
replenishing qi and nourishing yin, invigorating the spleen, moistening the lung, and benefiting the kidney. It effectively alleviates symptoms like fatigue and poor appetite due to spleen qi deficiency, dry cough with little sputum caused by lung yin depletion, and soreness and weakness of waist and knees from kidney deficiency. From a modern research perspective, it contains bioactive components such as Polygonatum polysaccharides, saponins, and flavonoids, which have immunomodulatory, antioxidant, anti-fatigue, and anti-aging effects, helping to enhance the body’s resistance and regulate internal balance.

【Properties and Tastes】
Tastes sweet; neutral in nature; enters the Spleen, Lung, and Kidney meridians
【Medicinal Components & Effects】
Polygonatum sibiricum is rich in active components.
Polygonatum polysaccharides are the key, exerting immunomodulatory and anti-aging effects by activating immune cells and scavenging free radicals.
Polygonatum saponins have anti-fatigue and energy-enhancing properties, relieving physical exhaustion.
Flavonoids contribute to antioxidant and anti-inflammatory abilities, protecting cells from oxidative damage. These components work together to replenish qi and yin, nourish the spleen, lung, and kidney, and maintain the body’s metabolic health.
【Storage Methods】
- Store in a
cool, dry, and well-ventilated place (temperature 10–15℃, humidity below 60%), away from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent mold, insect infestation, and softening. Processed Huang Jing is sticky and prone to moisture absorption, so sealing is crucial. - Use airtight containers like glass jars or vacuum-sealed bags. For long-term storage, add 1–2 packs of desiccants to absorb residual moisture; replace desiccants every 2–3 months.
- Avoid storing with odorous substances to prevent flavor tainting. Regularly check for mold spots, stickiness, or unusual odors—discard immediately if any spoilage is found.
