Description
Carruades de Lafite is the second wine of the legendary Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 1ᵉʳ Grand Cru Classe estate located in Pauillac with a history spanning back centuries. The specific vineyards where the fruit is sourced from are on the Carruades plateau, the wine’s namesake, and is planted to younger vines. The wine is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend, but with a higher portion of Merlot that the Grand Vin, and it is in part to this higher inclusion of Merlot that makes this wine more accessible in youth. Aged for 16-20 months in French oak with a small portion of new oak, this wine has a palate showing clear red and black fruit, subtle cedar and the Pauillac pencil shavings. to be paired with Duck breast, filet mignon, or a wild mushroom risotto.
