Description
Helmed by Clemens and Rita Busch, after taking over the estate from Clemens’ father in 1975, whereafter he quickly moved towards organic farming methods, eschewing any and all herbicides. It was in 1984 when he completely converted to organic practices, actually spearheaded the movement to establish a governing body for Organic Certification, followed by his conversion to biodynamic farming in 2005. The GG label indicates that the fruit is coming from legally defined vineyard ( Almost like Grand Cru in Burgundy) that are recognized for their prized quality, as well as hand harvested, indigenous yeast fermentation being utililzed, and aging in large neutral oak barrels with extended lees contact to build texture. On the nose you are seduced by ripe stone fruits (yellow peach/apricot), lime zest, and white flowers (acacia/vanilla). On the palate peaches continue with red apples, and a powerfully tense mineral backbone giving this wine the structure and concentration to age 10+ years. This can stand up to rich dishes, a very traditional dish would be white aspargus spears enrobed with Hollandaise sauce with cured meat and potatoes, however a Thai green curry with little to no spice will highlight this bottles aromatic profile.
