Description
Bodegas Valdemar, a family winery founded in 1889 and now led by the fifth generation, the Martinez Bujanda siblings. Their holdings span all 3 subregions of Rioja (Alta, Alaves, Baja), as well as here in the United States (Columbia Valley, Washington). The Reserva consists primarily of Tempranillo with supporting structure provided by Graciano, Garnacha, and Mazuelo, then aged in a mix of mainly American oak with some French oak for roughly 2 years, which is followed by further bottle aging. The wine lead with red fruits, strawberry, raspberry, red plums, and slight herbal aromas which bring lift to the wine. To be paired with mutton, or beef stew, grilled skirt steak, or perhaps molé.
